Ramirez recalls "doing art" since he was 3 years old - drawing the pictures from coloring books rather than coloring the books. His Cherokee grandmother gave him the push to pursue his creative side. She gave him a task to draw a glass once. He noticed the light gleaming, and the shadows evolving and realized with art he needed to "go deep" and to pull from his past and future to reveal the glass. And he has been striving to go deep since.
